School, Library and Festival Events

Emma Toomey really enjoys meeting children and adults and talking to them about her life as a police officer, author and horse owner. Children and adults alike will be entertained and inspired by meeting Emma and listening to her speak.

For schools, Emma's talk is suitable for Key Stages 1 and 2 and she is happy to talk to classes of around 30 at a time. For children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 she suggests setting the event to a maximum of 30 minutes. If a specific part of the curriculum needs to be covered, please let Emma know and she will endeavour to include it.

The talk includes some of Emma's experiences as a Metropolitan Police Officer (currently in the Mounted Branch), as well as how and why she became an author. She loves to spend time encouraging wannabe writers (young and old!) to start writing and reads from her books. There is also time at the end for a Q&A session, followed by a book sale and signing.

Emma is also more than happy to visit special needs units. She has spent many years working with adults and children with special needs, and has British Sign Language Level 3, if required to sign.
